Name: Crime Club -- Reservation Crimes (Ages 18+)
Date: October 15, 2022
Time: 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM MDT
Event Description:
The DPL Crime Club will meet once a month to discuss, well, true crime. There has been a growing fascination with crime and why it occurs as well as catching criminals, growing since at least the 1970s. Crimes on Native American reservations in the United States have arguably reached epidemic proportions. 4 out of 5 Indigenous women have reported being assaulted or raped at least once in their life. Many reservations are rural and cover rough terrain making them prime dumping grounds for murder victims. We will discuss these issues and others as well as specific cases from both North Dakota and reservations in the rest of the United States. Did you know: Native American women suffer assault, rape & murder at the highest rate per capita in the USA. *https://bjs.ojp.gov/content/pub/pdf/aic.pdf
